Mike Holguin is a highly accomplished drummer and music director whose career spans symphonic performance, commercial music, international touring, and music education at the highest level. He performs regularly with the San Diego Symphony and has worked alongside Grammy Award–winning and internationally renowned artists across stage, studio, and film.
A former U.S. Navy musician with the 7th Fleet Navy Band, Mike toured internationally as a cultural ambassador before establishing a thriving civilian career. He is also the Music Director and a founding member of The Mighty Untouchables, an elite San Diego–based corporate show band known for delivering world-class performances for high-profile events.
Equally committed to education, Mike has spent decades teaching, mentoring, and leading award-winning programs. He currently serves as Band Director at Maranatha Christian School and is a respected clinician and adjudicator throughout Southern California. Whether performing, directing, or teaching, Mike brings precision, professionalism, and deep musical integrity to everything he does.

Originally inspired by a live version recorded at the North Sea Jazz Festival, this interpretation was arranged and produced by Mike Holguin, who also serves as Music Director and founding member of The Mighty Untouchables. Featuring a blazing horn section and commanding rhythm, the performance showcases Mike’s precision, musical leadership, and deep respect for the source material.
